The British player advanced to round three in three out of four major tournaments in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments this season because of a medical condition that has affected her in recent days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to recover prior to beginning next year's training.

Her upcoming training will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

She was also playing with clear difficulty in the deciding set versus Zhu owing to back discomfort that has affected her at times this year.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
